Glossary
Burner identity
A chat-only account stored on your device. It is separate from your Ethereum wallet and cannot own your ETH or Ethscriptions.
floored assistant
An automated Chat participant that can answer questions, look up supported floored and blockchain data, run slash commands, schedule temporary checks, return images, and prepare transactions for you to review. It cannot approve a wallet transaction for you.
Calldata
Extra data attached to an Ethereum transaction. An Ethscription stores its encoded content in this transaction data.
Collection
A group of related Ethscriptions. A collection can include item names, traits, owners, statistics, marketplace activity, comments, and an eligible holder chat.
Content URI
The encoded data that contains or describes an Ethscription's content. floored prepares this for you when you create an Ethscription.
Escrow
Temporary marketplace or auction custody. An escrowed item is held by a contract while a listing or auction is active.
Ethscription
A digital item created by putting its content directly into an Ethereum transaction. Its creation transaction becomes its permanent record and ID.
Gas
The Ethereum network fee paid to process a transaction. Larger Ethscriptions usually use more gas because they contain more transaction data.
Holder chat
An encrypted collection group that is available only to eligible item holders.
Indexed data
floored's searchable copy of blockchain and app activity. It can take a short time to update after Ethereum confirms a transaction.
MIME type
A label that identifies the kind of content, such as image/png, text/plain, text/html, or application/json. floored uses it to choose how to display an Ethscription.
Marketplace support
The actions floored can provide for a marketplace. Some marketplaces show activity only, while others let you browse listings or buy in floored. Creating and managing a fixed-price listing in floored uses floored Market.
Provenance hash
The transaction hash that created an Ethscription. It is the item's permanent identifier and links to its creation transaction.
Scheduled task
A temporary repeating check performed by the floored assistant, such as checking a price every few minutes. You can list or cancel active tasks in Chat.
Slash command
A Chat instruction that begins with /, such as /gas or /search. Available commands depend on the active floored assistant.
TIC
The Ethscriptions format floored uses to store comments and replies. Adding, replying to, or deleting a comment requires a wallet-approved Ethereum transaction and gas.
XMTP
The encrypted messaging network floored uses for direct messages, groups, message requests, and holder chats. A recipient must be available on XMTP before you can message them.
