Use Chat to send encrypted messages to Ethereum addresses that are available on XMTP. You can message one person, create a group, or join an eligible collection holder chat.

XMTP is the messaging network used by floored. Chat has its own sign-in status, so a connected Ethereum wallet may still need to create or sign in to an XMTP account.

Start chatting

1. Open Chat.
2. Check the account shown at the top of the page.
3. If asked, choose Create Account or Sign in to XMTP and complete the wallet signature.
4. Select the chat-and-pencil button. If you have no conversations yet, select Start one instead.
5. Choose New Direct Message.
6. Enter an Ethereum address or ENS name and select the available recipient.
7. Select Create.
8. Enter and send your first message in the conversation that opens.

You can also choose Message from a person's profile. If Chat needs to connect first, floored returns to that conversation afterward.

The recipient must already be available on XMTP. A valid Ethereum address or ENS name does not guarantee that you can message it.

Choose a Chat identity

Identity	When to use it	What to know
Connected wallet	You want Chat tied to your active Ethereum address	The wallet owns the XMTP identity
Guest wallet	You are browsing without a verified floored account	The session is separate from authenticated app actions
Burner identity	You want a device-local, chat-only identity	It does not own your Ethereum assets

Always check the account label at the top of Chat before sending. Changing Chat identity does not change who owns your ETH or Ethscriptions.

Deleting a burner identity removes its private key and local XMTP data from the current app account.

Find conversations and requests

Chat has three views:

• Messages: Accepted direct messages, groups, and holder chats
• Requests: Messages from people you have not connected with
• Blocked: Conversations you have blocked

Unread badges appear on conversations and the Chat tab. Older messages load when you scroll to the top of a conversation.

To respond to a request, open Requests, review the sender and safety warning, then accept or block the conversation. Accepting lets you reply. Blocking hides the conversation and prevents ordinary sending until you unblock it.

Create and manage a group

1. Select the chat-and-pencil button, or Start one when your message list is empty.
2. Choose New Group.
3. Add a group name and select Next, or select Skip to continue without a name.
4. Search for members by address or ENS name and select the available XMTP accounts.
5. Select Done.

The new group opening and appearing in Messages confirms that it was created.

Depending on your role, group controls let you rename the group, update its image URL, add or remove members, review roles, sync the conversation, or leave. Roles can include Super Admin, Admin, and Member.

Send, reply, and react

The message box supports:

• Text messages
• Replies to an earlier message
• Reactions
• One attachment at a time
• Group mentions
• Slash commands offered by the floored assistant

In a group, type @ to find a member to mention. Type / at the beginning of a message to see available assistant commands. Use the arrow keys to move through suggestions, Tab or Enter to select one, and Escape to close the list.

To reply or react on desktop, hover over a message. On a touch device, press and hold or double-tap the message. Select the reply-arrow icon to reply, or the smile icon and then an emoji to react.

Send an attachment

1. Choose the attachment picker, or drop a supported file into the conversation on desktop.
2. Review the image preview or file name.
3. Remove it if you selected the wrong file.
4. Send the message.

You can stage one attachment up to 1 MB. Received files can fail to download or decrypt even when the text message loads normally.

Join a holder chat

Some collection pages offer a holder-only group.

1. Open the collection.
2. Connect or sign in to Chat with the same wallet address that is connected to floored. A burner or different Chat identity cannot open the holder group for that wallet.
3. Choose Join Group in the collection header.
4. Wait while floored checks your ownership and completes the request. Pending Approval appears while approval is needed.
5. Choose Open Chat when it appears.

Your active account must meet the collection's eligibility rules. Leaving the group or losing eligibility can affect access.

Review a transaction request in Chat

A Chat message can ask your wallet to send ETH or interact with a contract. It may include one request or several separate requests. Nothing executes automatically.

For every request:

1. Confirm that the request is addressed to your active wallet.
2. Review the Ethereum network, destination, ETH amount, described action, transaction details, and fee.
3. Approve it separately only if it matches an action you intended to perform.
4. Wait for the pending state to finish.
5. Choose View Transaction to inspect a confirmed transaction in the block explorer.

Other people in the conversation can see that approval is pending, but they cannot approve a request assigned to your wallet. Reject any request whose destination, amount, or effect you do not understand.

iPhone behavior

Supported iOS versions can use a native message box and keyboard controls. If those controls are unavailable, floored uses the web message box instead. The iOS tab bar can also show an unread Chat badge.

Stay safe in Chat

Encryption protects messages while they travel, but it does not prove that a sender is trustworthy. Never share a seed phrase or private key. Treat unexpected links, attachments, transaction requests, and support claims as untrusted.
