Safety
Some floored actions can move ETH or an Ethscription and usually cannot be undone. Slow down before you approve a wallet prompt, and treat links, messages, and user-created content with care.
Before you sign or approve
In your wallet, confirm all of the following:
- The selected Ethereum address is the one you intend to use.
- The network is Ethereum and matches the action you started.
- The destination address or contract is expected.
- The ETH amount is correct.
- The action matches what you selected in floored.
- The estimated network fee is acceptable.
- You recognize any contract function or transaction data shown by the wallet.
Transaction data, sometimes called calldata, is extra information sent with an Ethereum transaction. If you do not understand the destination, amount, or action in the wallet prompt, reject it.
Check every transfer address
Transferring an Ethscription changes its owner and is normally final. Compare the full destination address, not only the shortened version. An ENS name can make an address easier to read, but you should still confirm the address it resolves to.
A batch transfer sends every selected item to the same destination. Confirm both the address and item count before you approve it.
Understand listings and escrow
When you list an item, a marketplace contract may temporarily hold it until it sells or you remove the listing. This temporary contract custody is called escrow.
Before you create, update, cancel, buy, or withdraw a listing, confirm the marketplace name, contract, ETH amount, and action in your wallet. Some marketplaces are visible in floored but do not support every buying or selling action in the app.
A private listing allows only one buyer address to purchase the item. Confirm the full buyer address before you create it.
Understand auctions
The current floored auction interface is for browsing only. Its cards show the current bid or reserve, item and collection, and remaining time or ended status. floored does not provide controls to start an auction, place a bid, or settle an ended auction.
If you use another interface to act on an auction, review that interface and wallet request independently. Confirm the auction contract, item, duration, reserve price, minimum bid increase, ending-time extension, bid amount, and network fee before approval. Settlement is the final contract action that sends the item and payment after an auction, or returns the item when there is no winning bid.
Treat created content as untrusted
Ethscriptions can contain webpages, media, files, and links created by anyone. A webpage preview may be interactive. Never enter a password, payment information, seed phrase, recovery phrase, private key, or other sensitive information into an Ethscription.
Treat message requests with care
floored uses XMTP, an encrypted messaging network, for Chat. Encryption protects a message while it travels, but it does not prove that the sender is trustworthy.
Be careful with requests from people you do not know, especially when they include links, attachments, support claims, or transaction requests. floored will not send you a direct message asking for a seed phrase, recovery phrase, or private key.
Protect an embedded-wallet private key
On supported iOS devices, the embedded wallet is stored locally and protected by device authentication. Exporting its private key gives complete control of the wallet to anyone who sees it.
Export only when necessary. Store the key offline, never paste it into a website or chat, and make sure you have a safe copy before deleting the wallet from the device.
If something looks wrong
- Reject the wallet prompt.
- Leave the page without immediately retrying.
- Confirm the active wallet, Ethereum network, destination, and amount.
- Open the public transaction in an Ethereum block explorer if it was already submitted.
